The presentations including discussions will take approx. 1,5 hour.

The goal is to create between 5 and 15 Clusters of Excellence to integrate knowledge and innovation and truly strengthen collaboration between basic research and innovation, to achieve long-term conditions and funding.

PhotonicSweden and RISE are building the Swedish Photonics Excellence Cluster – a national initiative to make Sweden a global leader in photonics-enabled innovation. Work is now underway in the Swedish Photonics Excellence Cluster initiative. The team has begun mapping national strengths and key actors across three strategic areas:
biotech and life science / space, security and defence / quantum technologies

A status update on the work towards a Swedish Photonics Excellence Cluster
Åsa Claesson, PhotonicSweden (chair) and RISE (SSc)
The goal is clear: to accelerate photonics-enabled innovation and deliver real value for the system integrators and industries that depend on photonics in their products and platforms. With technology pull as the driving force, the initiative aims to strengthen dialogue across value chains and use areas, enable new opportunities for the Swedish photonics ecosystem, support talent supply and mobility, coordinate knowledge sharing, and raise the visibility of Swedish photonics both nationally and internationally.
Åsa will share the current status and hope to discuss how we can use the coming three months in the most effective way.

Photonics in quantum clusters
Per Olof Hedekvist, Senior scientist at RISE
There are three clusters in the Vinnova call and one in VR with a focus on quantum. In all of these, photonics is an enabling technology, This talk will present a review of the work in progress in these cluster formations, focusing on photonics.
