The Sweden Chapter of IEEE Photonics fosters the growth and development of photonics in Sweden, with valuable resources and opportunities to engage with the photonics research community. They also emphasize the importance of diversity and inclusion, e.g. through their Women in Photonics (WIP) initiative, to support and promote the contributions of women in photonics through various activities and events.
The IEEE Photonics Sweden Chapter awards a yearly prize to recently graduated PhD researchers that have written an outstanding doctoral thesis in the general area of optics and photonics, making impactful contributions to their field of research. Since 2016, the organization has also sponsored the Best Poster Awards at Optics and Photonics in Sweden.
