About PhotonicSweden

PhotonicSweden is a non-profit economic association working to strengthen Swedish optics and photonics. The association was founded in 2011.

Our activities

Networking and events

  • Our flagship event is the yearly conference Optics and Photonics in Sweden, an opportunity to network with the leaders in Swedish photonics and optics, to learn about new research and products, and to exhibit your expertise and offers to an interested audience.
  • Our Optopubs are meetings where specific topics are presented over a light dinner.
  • We organize Job fairs and other opportunities for students to meet their future employers, to discuss internships, master thesis project and job offers. These fairs are often organized together with a Swedish university, reach out to us to discuss how we can help your students discover Photonics!

International collaborations

  • We are part of a pan-European network of national photonics hubs, under the framework of Photonics21. PhotonicSweden helps build a strong photonics industry in Europe, and makes sure that Sweden is visible and benefits. If you want to get involved, register as a member of Photonics21, visit their events, and get engaged on their board of stakeholders!

Promoting Photonics

It is difficult to overstate the importance of photonics and optics, and impossible to list all the applications that they enable. Still, decision makers are often unaware of the importance of our field, and of the strong Swedish research and business in our area.

PhotonicSweden has as one of our missions to ‘spread the word’ about photonics and optics, and to make the field visible towards funding agencies, politicians, other decision makers, and the general public. Our reports are part of these efforts.
