CARLA was a three year project, concluded in early 2023. The project has had as its main targets to:

  • boost the numbers of students and young researchers pursuing careers in photonics,
  • encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, and to
  • empower gender diversity.

CARLA was an initiative by ECOP (European Centres for Outreach in Photonics), a long-standing partnership of European research and innovation centres passionate about outreach in photonics.

Project results

At its conclusion in 2023, CARLA has been actively promoting careers in photonics through 13 camps (standalone events) and 8 capsules (sessions within another event) that took place in 10 different countries. In particular, more than 2000 participants, 200 speakers, 250 academic institutions and 375 companies have participated in CARLA camps, making the project successful.
